Biography - Joyce Neves, Artist

Artist Statement - To recreate what I see in real life and make it come alive on canvas.

Artist Background - I‘ve always loved working with art projects, from coloring maps of the world back in high school to craft projects with my girls as they were growing up. I see the world in colors rather than objects and love to use all of those different colors and shapes in making my work come to life on a canvas.

Starting with acrylics many years ago, I discovered I could sit for hours and just paint my heart away. From there I tried water colors, then on to oils, where I really found my true love. The ability to mix a few colors and come up with thousands of other colors is so exciting.

My favorite subjects are still-life that I have set up, often times using items that are dear to me. As I am recreating the item on canvas, I often remember all of the fond memories that made the particular item special to me. The joy and excitement I feel when I see the object come alive on canvas is worth the time I put into each and every painting.

My camera goes with us on all of our travels. Digital cameras are the best thing that could have happened, because I take hundreds of pictures. I love to come home and recreate those places we have been.

Artist Personal Info - Mark and I have been happily married for 32 years. We have two grown daughters, one son-in-law, one future son-in-law, and three grand puppies, Joey, Pebbles and Libby.

When I’m not in my studio, on nice days, I can be found either working in my flower beds or on the golf course.

Artist Goals - I hope viewers find as much pleasure in my artwork as I have found in creating them.
